Citizen mayor shows he's up to job of leading city
Indianapolis Star 1.6.10
As a longtime resident of Indianapolis who left because of the negatives associated with the city, I applaud the Jan. 2 review of the mayor's 2009 efforts, accomplishments and plans. It's not hard to find actions by our elected bureaucrats to criticize, so it is rewarding to be able to agree that this noncareer politician has served during a time of improvement in our capital city.
It makes our Founding Fathers just that much more "right on" when they suggested that we should be governed by "citizen legislators" and not career politicians. I would encourage all voters to take accomplishments and sincerity into consideration when they select a candidate to support. Charisma, glamour and glibness may be appealing, but our cities, state and country will be better served by honest and sincere men and women without regard for their TV appeal.
